The History of the Art of Tea Flowers
Originating in the heart of the Fujian mountains (China), tea flowers draw inspiration from an ancient art dating back to the 14th century. Tea masters have long treated tea leaves as a noble material: they would fold them, tie them, and slip edible flowers inside to enhance their fragrance. Over time, artisans have developed a delicate art: weaving tea leaves and edible flowers together so that, when brewed, a real flower emerges. Today’s tea flowers are a modern expression of this time-honored practice.
